The back tattoos, especially the ones done on the bottom of the back, have become highly popular among young women as they’re cute and stylish. Nevertheless, even a tiny image might bring the danger...

Recently the doctors of maternity departments have faced a new problem regarding the epidural anaesthesia usage during labor. The 25-year-old woman, who was getting her first birth experience and, hence, was rather nervous, was promised to get the local anaesthesia (a kind of epidural medications) as the most common pain relief. But when the time came, it turned out that this way is pretty risky to apply. The reason was in the little rose on the woman’s back just as the paint (therefore microbes) might have got into the cerebrospinal fluid while the spine puncturing and caused various complications.

Fortunately, the doctors were able to perform intravenous anaesthesia, which helped to decrease pain and to deliver the baby girl successfully.

Thus it is important for women with tattoos on their backs to be careful while getting ready for the birth process and to consider the possible anaestetics since the rejection of epidural anaesthesia has transpired into a common thing all over the world.
